Bangalore, Aug 14: On a day of fluctuating fortunes, Jaskirat Singh Dullet of the Black Elephant Golf Club, Patiala, snatched a slender lead of one stroke at the end of the third round of the Eagleton Amateur Golf Championship here yesterday.
With the course playing a little longer because of the winds picking up on the latter half of the tournament, most of the players found it difficult to read the greens and it showed in yesterday's scores, with only seasoned players like Manav Das shooting four under 68 and Jaideep Patwardhan putting up an impressive two under, to stay in the top ten.
Jaskirat returned with one under to tally 208 -- only one stroke behind army golfer Vikram Rana, who scored par to tally 209. Defending champion Simarjeet Singh of Noida, who set the course on fire with a six under Tuesday, had a poor two over, to take the third spot at 210.
Manav Das from Amabala shot a hole-in-one on the four par eighth hole, to end the third round with an aggregate of 211. Sharing the spot with him were Gagan Verma and Amardeep Singh of army.
Manav, who notched up his first hole-in-one, played six under until the eleventh hole and finished with four under yesterday.
Yesterday's round featured quite a few short putts being totally misread by the top amateurs, with the green proving tricky.
It was a day with different conditions after a heavy rain soaked the course last night. However, the hi-tech drainage system had rendered it fit for play.
