New Delhi, Sept 07: Iraq Friday reacted angrily to US air raids and said it would raise at the upcoming UN General Assembly session the issue whether America has the "divine" right to attack any country in contravention of UN charter and international law. ''What kind of hostile act is this. They are flying over our cities and our country. We are not attacking American jet fighters flying over New York and Washington. We are firing on airplanes violating our sovereignty,'' Iraqi Ambassador to India Salah Al Mukhtar told a televison news channel in Mumbai when asked about the latest US raids on Iraq. He said ''it is an aggression over the Iraqi territory''.

The Iraqi envoy said Baghdad will raise this question at the UNGA ''whether the US has a divine right to attack any country contrary to the UN Charter and international law. ''When we have the international community represented at the UN, the world body should make the decision, not the US, he said.
Britain confirmed that US and British war planes struck an Iraqi air base but did not corroborate reports that some 100 fighter jets participated in the action Thursday. Bureau Report
