Raipur, Jun 01: BJP national president M Venkaiah Naidu today dismissed the demand for the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and Union Minister Murli Manohar Joshi in view of the supplementary chargesheet filed against them in the Babri Masjid demolition case, terming it as "politically motivated".
Replying to a question, he told reporters that no questions of morality were involved here.
Naidu also accused Congress of adopting double standards, saying it could "distribute or support lathis but was opposed to tridents whereas not a single person has been killed in the country by the trishul".
"Again, the Congress chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijay Singh could make an issue of the offering of sweets to God by Uma Bharti, but they accused BJP of raking up emotional issues."
"This reflects their intention", he said, adding "at the time of elections only, the Congress remembers the poor and rest of the time it sides with the rich and work for their development".
Facing bad prospects in the coming election, Congress has now started talking about alliance with other political parties, he said.
However, BJP would go it alone in the assembly polls in the four states with its own agenda and the next Lok Sabha polls would be fought under the leadership of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and on his government's performance, Naidu added.
