Govt taking steps to modernise Kerala police: CM
Sreekantapuram (Kannur), June 08: The Kerala government was taking all steps to modernise the police force to make it one of the best law enforcing forces in the country, Chief Minister A K Antony said here today.
Sreekantapuram (Kannur), June 08: The Kerala government was taking all steps to modernise the police force to make it one of the best law enforcing forces in the country, Chief Minister A K Antony said here today.
"Today the police force is facing a lot of hazards while conditions enforcing law and order for the people. To redress these problems, the government is taking steps to improve the working conditions of the police force to bring in an efficient law and order system, he said, inaugurating the police family quarters here.
Exhorting policemen to perform their duties, keeping in mind the welfare of the people and without falling prey to pressures exerted by politicians, he said the UDF's new police policy had helped bring in peace in the otherwise violence prone Kannur district.
The new policy had also helped enhance the image of the police force in the minds of the people.
He also said the government would induct more women police personnel upto 10 per cent of the total force.
Prior to the function, he visited the residence of the Kerala Armed Police constable K V Vinod, who died during the Feb 19 Muthanga violence and consoled the family members. He also directed the Commandant, Fourth Battalion, KAP, to speed up the appointment of Vinod's elder brother, who has been selected for the SI post in the KAP.
