Indian troops fired mortar shells across the disputed Kashmir border, killing a woman and wounding a 4-year-old child, the police said.
The shells hit a village Sunday in the Nakial area, 260 km north of Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistani Kashmir, the police said. No other details were immediately available. India and Pakistan resumed artillery duels last month across the disputed frontier after a lull of almost 11 months.
India said it targeted Pakistani border troops for helping Muslim guerrillas sneak into its territory under Indian control. Pakistan denies the charge.
