Special CBI court in Ranchi has rejected Laloo Yadav`s bail application and is to remain in custody till January 2. He will, however, be produced in the Patna court on December 21 in another fodder scam case. Rashtriya Janata Dal president Laloo Prasad Yadav on Thursday had surrendered before the designated court of judge Prabodh Ranjan Dass in connection with the conspiracy angle case RC 68 (A) of the fodder scam.
Soon after his surrender, Mr Yadav prayed for his bail in the case, which deals with disproportionate withdrawals from the Chaibasa treasury.
The designated court taking cognizance of the chargesheet filed by the CBI in the case had issued production warrants against Mr Yadav and former Bihar chief minister Jagannath Mishra besides, issuing non-bailable warrants against 19 others and summons against the remaining 75 accused.
Yadav, who was jailed in another conspiracy angle case of the fodder scam RC 47(A), was released on bail on Wednesday from the camp jail. Mr Yadav and Dr Mishra were remanded in judicial custody by the designated court of judge Harish Chandar Mishra when the two had surrendered before the court in RC 47(A) on November 26.
The special CBI judge had ordered on December 14 for the production of Mr Yadav and Dr Mishra along with the other accused by January 2 when the case had been listed for the next hearing.
