New Delhi, Dec 14: In what seemd to be an obvious reference to Pakistan, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani said today governments promoting terrorism are "far more dangerous" than the terrorist outfits themselves and a lot more needs to be done by the world community to check the menace. "States and governments which promote terrorism are far more dangerous than the terrorist groups themselves. There has been some realisation of this evil by the international community," he told a conference on aviation and tourism here.

Stating that the 9/11 terror strikes had made everyone conscious of the harm terrorism could cause, he said, "Some effects (of this realisation by the world nations) have already been seen, but still a lot more needs to happen".
Advani said no one used to take India's two-decade long battle with the menace seriously earlier.

Taking a cue from Tourism Minister Jagmohan, who said issuing of travel advisories by foreign governments against visiting India amounted to "playing into the hands of terrorists themselves", Advani said these advisories were being issued against countries who were themselves victims of terrorism.

"Why penalise a country which is itself a victim of terrorism? The advisories hurt tourism and aviation in that particular country," Advani said and asked the delegates, including foreigners, to raise the matter with the foreign governments. Bureau Report
