Jerusalem, Sept 10: Palestinian Prime Minister-designate Ahmad Qorei recently offered Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom a unilateral ceasefire, according to an Israeli television network. Qorei sent a message to shalom through Israeli Left-wing deputy Zehava Galon, the television reported, quoting a source close to Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat. In his message, Qorei said he hoped in exchange the Israelis would halt the targeted raids against armed Palestinian militants, the television said.
It also reported that when Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon returns from India he will convene a cabinet meeting to discuss Tuesday's suicide bombings, which left 15 people dead and scores injured. The cabinet will consider the consequences of expelling Arafat and launching a major offensive in the Gaza Strip, television said. Bureau Report
