Chandigarh, Oct 29: Haryana Chief Minister and
Indian National Lok Dal Chief Om Prakash Chautala today ruled
out merging his party with the Janata Parivar or a possible
third front ahead of next Lok Sabha elections.
"People opposed to the Congress and BJP ideology favour
constitution of a third front as an alternative. Even JD(U)
and SP have merged...But the INLD would maintain its
identity," Chautala, who was re-elected unopposed as national
president of the party, told reporters here.
He said INLD would accept support from like-minded parties but would not compromise on its identity.
Interestingly, Chautala had last month attended a meeting of top leaders of Samata Party and JD (U) in Delhi where the proposal for reuniting the Janata Parivar was discussed.
