Rs 257 crore under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan for Himachal, Haryana
New Delhi, May 29: To enroll all children in the age group 6-14 years in school, the Centre has approved Rs 257 crore for Himachal Pradesh and Haryana under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan for the current fiscal, an official release said here today.

The Project Approval Board (PAB) has approved Rs 110
crore, including Rs 12 crore for spill over activities, for
Himachal Pradesh under the scheme which targets to enroll all
children in the age group 6-14 years in school/ EGS centers/
bridge schools by the year end, the release said.
The Centre has started the process of approval of state- wise annual plans from this month so that the objective could be achieved during the year.
The PAB has approved Rs 147.78 crore, including Rs 28.59 crore as spill over works for Haryana under the scheme, it said.
Himachal Pradesh has almost achieved universalisation of elementary education and only 8,000 children have been identified to be still out-of-school, it said, adding in Haryana around two lakh children in the age group of 6-11 years and 1.5 lakh children in the age group of 11-14 years were out of school, it added.
