Adilabad (AP), June 05: Two passengers were killed and 18 injured when two coaches of a passenger train hit a truck about 20 km from here today.
The Mudkhed-bound passenger train which had left Adilabad at around 11:00 am collided with a truck that was engaged in renovation of the track, Additional Superintendent of Police Sattar Khan said.
As a result, two of the five coaches derailed and fell on the left side of the track killing two persons instantly, he said.
He said prima facie, it appears to be the fault of the truck driver who brought the vehicle across the track and was absconding now.
While the injured have been shifted to government hospital here, other passengers have been taken to their destinations, he said.
Efforts are on to resume traffic on the track which remained disrupted due to the damage caused to the rails, Khan added.
