New Delhi, July 29: The boycott of Defence Minister George Fernandes continued in the Lok Sabha today with almost the entire Opposition staging a walkout as soon as he rose to make a statement on the terrorist attack on an army camp near Jammu recently.
The walk-out came in the midst of pandemonium in the
house as BSP members demanded immediate dismissal of Tourism
Minister Jagmohan for his "misleading" statement on Taj
heritage corridor project.
As soon as Speaker Manohar Joshi asked Fernandes to make the statement, which has been pending for a week in view of efforts to break the deadlock over the boycott of the Minister, the Opposition members rose in protest.
As Congress, Left and RJD members were leaving the House, Joshi asked Fernandes to table the statement and then announced that he was not taking up Zero Hour.
This led to protests by some members and the Speaker adjourned the house till 1400 hours. Bureau Report
