Lucknow, June 05: Rashtriya Kranti Party president Kalyan Singh today said that in order to prove the claim that Mayawati-led Uttar Pradesh government has been reduced to minority, the opposition parties might ask its supporting MLAs to meet the President and Governor in the near future.
"If the need arises, the opposition might ask the MLAs supporting them to appear in person before the President and Governor to prove their claim that the Mayawati government has lost majority support and the opposition was in a position to provide an alternative," Kalyan Singh told reporters in an
informal chat here.
Singh said that leaders of the opposition parties would soon decide their future course of action in case Governor Vishnu Kant Shastri "continued to ignore their demand of dismissing the Mayawati government following the withdrawal of support by the RLD."
The Governor has only two options in the changed political situation, either to dismiss the government which has been reduced to minority or else ask the chief minister to seek the confidence of the House afresh, he said.
Kalyan Singh claimed that dissidence in the BJP has only increased in the recent past and it was just a matter of time when one third MLAs would revolt against the leadership.
Emphasising on the need for opposition unity, he said it was essential that an anti- BJP front was evolved before the coming elections and all the opposition parties go in the elections on the basis of common minimum programme.
