Mandanjit Singh appointed flag office commander
Vice Admiral Madanjit Singh was on Tuesday appointed New Flag Officer Commanding in Chief Southern Naval Command and will take over his assignment on May 31.
Vice Admiral Madanjit Singh was on Tuesday appointed New Flag Officer Commanding in Chief Southern Naval Command and will take over his assignment on May 31.
A specialist in gunnery, Singh has held key appointments afloat and ashore having commanded frigates INS Ganga and aircraft carrier INS Viraat and also looked after naval policy and tactics at naval headquarters.
Promoted to the flag rank in March 1993, he took over as fleet commander of western naval fleet in 1996-97 and later moved to capital to assistant chief of naval staff (information warfare and operations). After becoming vice admiral in April 1998, Singh carried out duties as deputy chief of naval staff and there after headed the implementation cell in the ministry of defence. He took over as chief of naval personnel on Oct 3,2001.
