Gangtok, Oct 15: Sikkim has urged the Centre to connect it to the 'golden quadrangle' project for better road connectivity. "I have written to Prime Minister A B Vajpayee to connect Sikkim to the golden quadrangle project so that we can also be benefited by the four-lane highway," chief minister Pawan Chamling said here.
Sikkim should not remain isolated from the Rs 15,000 crore project passing so near the state, Chamling was quoted as saying by official sources.
The project will pass through Siliguri in West Bengal to connect the eastern and western parts of the country.
The chief minister has asked senior officials to take up the matter with the Centre, the sources said. Bureau Report
