Chennai, Nov 05: CPI-M and CPI MLAs today staged a
walkout from the Tamil Nadu Assembly, when they were not
allowed to raise the issue of dismissal of government
employees for their participation in a strike in July last.
CPI-M leader J Hemachandran and CPI leader G Palanisamy rose to ask the Speaker K Kalimuthu about the fate of an adjournment motion they had given on the subject.
The speaker said issues were taken up in the house on the basis of priority and urgency.
When the speaker refused permission to Hemachandran to raise the matter, he led his members in a walkout.
Even as CPI-M members were trooping out, CPI members were on their feet.
Asking them to resume their seats, Kalimuthu warned that he would be compelled to name them and ask the watch and ward to evict them if they did not do so. Following this, Palanisamy and other CPI members walked out of the house.
