Bhopal, Sept 30: War-ravaged Iraq may take part in the four-day Asian Kayaking and Canoeing Championship beginning here on Wednesday if formalities being worked out for its last minute entry materialise. In a message to the Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association (IKCA), Iraq has requested that it be allowed to send an eight-member team to the meet in which teams from 14 Asian countries are participating. According to IKCA officials, permission has been granted and formalities are being worked out for Iraq's participation in the championship, to be inaugurated on Wednesday by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh. Among other entrants are Japan, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Singapore besides hosts India. Bureau Report
