Solapur, Sept 29: Counting for the bypoll to the prestigious Solapur Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra where 54.82 per cent of the total electorate of 11,20,042 cast their votes will be held today. The fate of 10 candidates, including Anandrao Devkate (Congress) and Pratapsingh Mohite-Patil (BJP-Sena), is already locked in ballot boxes. By-poll was necessitated in the constituency with Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde vacating his seat which he represented for three consecutive terms to head the state government.

The election had assumed much significance as it was the first trial of strength for the DF government in Maharashtra after Sushilkumar Shinde took over the reins of the state. Bureau Report
