Srinagar, Apr 06: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president Omar Abdullah today filed his nomination from Srinagar parliamentary constituency. Omar, who is seeking re-election from the constituency, was taken in a procession in about two dozen vehicles to Badgam where he filed his papers before the returning officer. The constituency will witness a multi-cornered on contest between Abdullah, ruling Peoples Democratic Party candidate Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjoora, former MP Abdul Rashid Kabli and BJP candidate Iftikhar Sadiq, grandson of former Chief Minister G M Sadiq. Abdullah has said the final solution to the Kashmir issue lay in granting greater autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir. He said Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani was holding talks with the Hurriyat leaders. "But at the end, there will be no other solution than holding parleys on granting greater autonomy. They will have to look around realm of autonomy only." Omar said his party was consistent on its demand for autonomy and would rake up the issue during the present Parliamentary polls. To a question about contesting Lok Sabha polls after announcing he would stay in state politics, Omar said "I was accused by PDP of always shying from the state politics, but what is its President Mehbooba Mufti doing now. Why is she contesting." Bureau Report
