Gangtok, Apr 13: Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling today sought revival of Sino-Indian border trade and said he had got a positive response from the Centre in this regard. He told reporters here that he said he had raised the matter with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who is here on a four-day visit.
"The Prime Minister knows everything and Centre's response has been positive on this," he said.
As a part of the government's move to make the state a model of peace and tranquility, he said it was proposed to set up a 11-member state security commission.
"The commission would ensure security in all aspects ranging from food to environment and water as also for the people of the state," he said.
Chamling thanked Vajpayee for the various developmental schemes announced by him today including Rs 110 crore airport for the state.
He said this project, along with the proposed link between AIIMS and the Gangtok hospital and other schemes, would accelerate the state's all round development. Bureau Report
