A host of receptions and India-related events are lined up for the week. Today there is reception at the capitol to mark the tenth anniversary of the Congressional caucus for India and Indian Americans which is being hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and Indian ambassador to US Lalit Mansingh.
Speakers at the function include the ambassador, Anand Mahindra, president of the CII and Krishna Bose, chairperson of the standing committee of parliament on external affairs.
Citations will be presented to past and present co-chairmen of the caucus including democrats Frank Pallone, Gary Ackerman, Jim McDermott and Joseph Crowley and republicans Bill Mccollum, Jim Grenwood, Ed Royce and Joe Wilson.
On May 22 issues relating to India will be discussed at a meeting co-hosted by the CII and Centre for strategic and international studies. One of the topics is 'Indian and U.S. perspectives on terrorism.'
On May 25, former president K R Narayanan is scheduled to inaugurate a Washington branch of the GOPIO or the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin. Bureau Report
