Ahmedabad, Nov 12: Tension prevailed at Dasad village in Unjha taluka of Mehsana district in Gujarat after last night's "communal trouble" in which two people were killed and over 20 injured, police said today. The deceased include one from each community, SP Mehsana A K Sharma said over phone here.
Following confusion after a dog ran around Gogh Maharaj temple where celebrations of a three-day festival were going on, people from both communities indulged in stone-pelting and there were gunshots too, prompting police to open 10 rounds of fire, lob 17 teargas shells and 12 gas grenades to quell the mob, Sharma said.
"The situation is tense but under control," he said.
Police sources in Gandhinagar said at least 16 people from majority community had been taken to Unjha health centre while six from minority community are undergoing treatment in Mehsana hospital. Bureau Report
