New Delhi, July 07: Indian Agricultural Research Institute's officiating director, Dr Pawan Kumar Singh, has been appointed the vice-chancellor of the Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technololgy, Kanpur. Kumar is currently also the joint director (research) at IARI, a release from the Iari said.

His research experience spans 37 years in which he made significant contributions to plant sciences, particularly microbiology, algology, biotechnology, biofertilisers and integrated crop nutrient management, genetics, and radiation biology etc. A recipient of several awards for his research work, Singh was elected fellow (plant sciences) of the Indian National Science Academy in 1989 and foundation fellow of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 1991, the release said.
