Moscow, June 21: Chief of Army Staff General N C Vij today completed his six-day goodwill visit to Russia, during which he held wide ranging talks to further strengthen existing inter-services cooperation with the Russian armed forces. Vij discussed "product-support" issues and reinforcing the inter-services interaction between the two countries with the Russian Deputy Defence Minister Mikhail Dmitriyev, who looks after Moscow's arms sales to foreign countries, an Indian Embassy statement said.
Vij arrived here on June 15, on his first foreign tour after taking over as army chief, at the invitation of the Commander-in-Chief of Russia's land forces, Deputy Defence Minister Colonel General Nikolai Kormiltsyev.
During his tour of the country the army chief also visited a Russian defence enterprise in the city of Tula.
Pentagon had accused the Tula defence establishment of violating UN sanctions by allegedly supplying deadly anti-tank "Kornet" missiles to Saddam Hussien's army.
The Army Chief also visited elite Russian army units near Moscow and St Petersburg.
