Bin Laden is either in Afghanistan or Pakistan: Cheney
US Vice President Richard Cheney believes the world`s most wanted man, Osama bin Laden, is either in Afghanistan or Pakistan.
US Vice President Richard Cheney believes the world's most wanted man, Osama bin Laden, is either in Afghanistan or Pakistan.
Stating this in an interview with the Washington Times published, Cheney said US-led military operations in Afghanistan have broken the back of Al Qaeda terrorist group. “I think we have had a devastating impact on Al Qaeda in Afghanistan,” He said, adding: But there is still a lot out there to do. Obviously, we would love to get our hands on bin Laden, and we will, sooner or later.
Cheney, who was defence secretary during the Gulf War, said Al Qaeda terrorists taken prisoner by US forces in Afghanistan could be the first to be tried by military tribunals established by President George W Bush. However, the president will make the final decision, he said. But, clearly, there are some prospective candidates there.
