New Delhi, Feb 27: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) would seek the custody of suspended Delhi Police Inspector and Telgi stamp scam accused Puran Singh today as Delhi High court quashed his petition resisting further interrogation. CBI sources said the CBI counsel would file an application before special judge H P Sharma to take the custodial remand of Singh, who was arrested on February 21.
Justice R S Sodhi of the high court today dismissed the plea of the accused seeking quashing of the second fir against him.
While rejecting the petition he said the second case registered by the CBI was for ''distinct and different offences'' from the one registered by the Delhi Police's crime branch earlier.
On February 23, Justice B N Chaturvedi had issued notice to the CBI on the plea of the accused that the CBI registered another case in order to harass him.
Earlier in the day, Sharma had remanded Singh in judicial custody till February 28 awaiting the order of the high court.
Suspended sub-inspector Gaurav Agarwal, a co-accused in the case will be in CBI custody till February 29.
Singh had said in the application that he was in the custody for 60 days in a similar case.
Singh was released on bail on February 19, 2004, when the CBI failed to file a chargesheet within the mandatory 60 days.
