`WTO to create competitive ability for SME`

Most problems arising in the post-WTO period were due to the unorganised nature of this sector, lack of data information and use of low technology, Fred said at a function organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (North) here.

He laid emphasis on the strategies for small and medium companies to become competitive and WTO-oriented.
Industries commissioner Lalit Mehra said the SME's need to be guided on WTO provisions and also on safeguards available to them.
Special secretary Industries and WTO cell in Rajasthan, said WTO would affect all types of SSI units whether producing for the domestic market or for the international market.
K S Singhwan, the General Manager of Small Industries Development Bank of India asked SSI to be prepared to face challenge due to the WTO and avail opportunities coming their way. Bureau Report
