Dhaka, Sept 03: A new organisation, "gender and media monitoring forum" has been floated here with the objective of stopping mistreatment of women in media. The organisation will work towards creating public awareness against the negative exposure of women in various mass media and in advertisements using women as commercial commodities. The organisation was formed in the Bangladeshi capital yesterday at a meeting of media workers, representatives of women's organisations, academicians, cultural activists and members of the civil society.
A seven-member convening committee of the organisation was constituted in the meeting with noted litterateur and director of Bangla Academy Selina Hussein as the convenor. Bureau Report
