New Delhi, June 22: Global internet security solutions company Check Point Software Technologies will have a direct presence in India through a sales office, to be setup
in Mumbai, by August this year.
"We will open a sales office in Mumbai by August. The
office was to open in march this year but had to be postponed
to august due to SARS spread", Kelvin Lim, country manager,
South Asia, Check Point Software Technologies told here.
He said the office will mark the company's direct presence here.
So far the company has been selling in the country through its partners like Ramco, HCL Comnet, Select Technologies and a Sri Lankan company -- Ceylico Technologies -- which has offices in Mumbai and Bangalore.
The company has already finalised on a country manager and once the sales office is set up, India would be yet another location for the company, like China, Korea, Singapore, Australia with Hong Kong, as headquarter for Asia Pacific, Kim said.
For the year 2003, Check Point is expecting a revenue of 12 million dollars from the Indian market, he said. In 2002, it had generated eight million dollars worth of business from the country.
Nasdaq-listed Check Point Software Technologies is a leading player in worldwide VPN (virtual private network) and firewall products. It had a revenue of 427 million dollars in 2002.
