New Delhi, Oct 30: Suspended Delhi University
lecturer S A R Geelani, who was released today after the Delhi
High Court acquitted him in the Parliament attack case, came
down heavily on the judiciary and police and alleged that
several attempts were made on his life during his 23-month
imprisonment at Tihar Jail.
"There were several attempts with blades, knife and even
poisoning during my stay in Tihar Jail where I was kept in
solitary confinement," Geelani told reporters here.
Hitting hard at the judiciary and police, Geelani said "judiciary is being used by fascist forces as a vehicle for furthering their agenda. And there is a criminal nexus between police and people in judiciary which needs to be exposed in order to allow democracy survive in the country."
He said people who believed in democracy should put an end to this "unholy nexus."
Asked about his views on Kashmir issue, he said "I believe that Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory and that there should be a peaceful solution to the problem keeping in view the wishes and aspirations of the people."
Asserting that he would continue to fight against the oppression of people of Kashmir, Geelani alleged that he was targeted only because he was a Kashmiri.
