Coimbatore, Aug 10: Union human resource develpoment minister Murli Manohar Joshi said today the arrest of MDMK leader Vaiko, under Pota, was purely a state subject and the Centre will not intervene in the matter.
Asked what the Centre was doing on the issue, Joshi said the state government had executed the arrest. The Centre would not intervene. "It is purely a state subject and will be handled by it (the state)," Joshi told reporters here.
On allegations that NDA government was "saffronising" the education system, he said only those who did not understand the meaning of modernisation were levelling such charges.
"We are modernising education by computerising the system and giving good technical education and there is no question of saffronisation," Joshi said.
