New Delhi, June 01: Notwithstanding the proposed ban on outsourcing by some American states, IT enabled services (ITeS) exports from India have grown 44 per cent in 2002-03 over the previous year figures and were forecast to touch Rs 72,900 crore by 2008, ESC said on Sunday. "Despite politicisation, outsourcing works related to call centre and backroom operations would continue to grow since corporations abroad are aware of the advantages of outsourcing and positive spin-offs of such operations in shoring up profitability," an ESC statement said.
Exports of ITeS have gone up to Rs 10,500 crore in 2002-03 from Rs 7,300 crore in the previous year, it said.
The ratio of revenue from ITeS exports to the total IT exports is going up, it said, adding, the ratio has progressed to 20 per cent in 2002-03 from 16 per cent in 2000-01.
It said the share of ITeS to total exports would rise to over 25 per cent by 2008. Bureau Report
