New Delhi, May 14: The Central Vigilance Commission today assured that it will not unnecessarily interfere in the commercial decisions made by PSUs, even as it found that vigilance was treated as an "isolated" function in organisations. "Vigilance will not come in the way of fast commercial decision making if the reasons and circumstances of decisions are recorded and put into proper perspective," additional secretary in the commission, S Gopal, said here at the standing conference on public enterprises seminar.

He said that the commission had constituted a committee to review the working of vigilance administration in PSUs with a view to strengthen system.
"During the interactions with the committee, it was observed that vigilance was treated as an isolated function while it is a management function," Gopal said, asking PSUs to improve and upgrade their systems to ensure transparency.

"PSE executives are the custodians of government money and they have to be vigilant all the time to ensure that money is not misused," he cautioned.

He said that employees were afraid of vigilance due to lack of awareness about the rules and regulations of the organisation.
