New Delhi, June 30: IT major Seagate today announced the plan for 2.5-inch hard drive platform to increase storage performance of an enterprise.
The new enterprise disc drives would increase scope of a
higher level of enterprise storage and reliability while using
Data Centre Space, the company said in a statement here.
The new enterprise disc drive platform effort tries to leverage on Seagate's technology leadership.
It intends to deliver first enterprise-class solutions based on the 2.5-inch disc drive platform in 2004.
"It professionals require space-saving, high-performance storage solutions to meet the challenges of server and storage consolidation," said Dave Reinsel, IDC hard drive research manager.
The new hard disc platform will be a good fit for an industry desiring innovating storage consolidation solutions offered by many Seagate's original customers, he added.
The use of the new drives would also help allow use of Intel's most advanced and powerful processors to deliver new levels of input/output performance in the smallest system footprint possible, said Ned Thanhouser, marketing director of Intel enterprise product and services division.
