UP powermen threaten to go on indefinite strike
Lucknow, Oct 01: Uttar Pradesh power employees today announced a series of agitation from October 18 and threatened to go on an indefinite strike a week later in protest against the government`s decision to set up four separate power distribution companies.

By setting up four separate distribution companies, the
up government was adopting the measures that have already been
proved a "flop" in other states, Shailendra Dubey, spokesman
of joint committee of power employees federation, said here.
Urging the government to reconsider its decision in this regard, Dubey said the employees' agitation would start in the form of 'Satyagrah' and work boycott from October 18.
Dubey said the experiment of setting up separate power companies have already turned out a "flop" in Orissa, Andhra Pradesh Karnataka, Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi.
