Bangalore, Sept 26: Country's top athletes are slated to participate in the 43rd National Open Athletics Championships starting here on Sunday.
But long jump bronze medallist at the recent world Athletic Championships Anju B George would skip the three-day event to concentrate on next month's inaugural Afro-Asian Games in Hyderabad.

According to the organisers and sponsors, Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited, athletes who took part in the recent Asian Athletic Championships at Manila, are among the 750 participants vying for top honours. The services and railways, champions in men's and women's section, respectively, in the last meet, have fielded big contingents.

For the first time, the 3000 metre steeple-chase event would be conducted in the women's section, KPTCL officials said.
