Dehra Dun, Aug 16: Incensed over slow pace of development works and not being provided a list he had demanded from a forest official, Uttaranchal Chief Minister N D Tiwari today threatened to quit politics. "If the development works are not speeded up, I will take retirement from politics. This is not a threat but I am stating the truth," a visibly upset Tiwari said after inaugurating a horticulutre Centre here. Tiwari's threat to resign came after forest conservator S K Chandola failed to prepare a list of villages involved in the horticulture programmes run by the state government. The drama unfolded when Tiwari asked Chandola for a list he had asked him to prepare some time back. Chandola, however, said today he was a forest conservator and was not concerned with the Horticulture Department.
Irritated by the reply, Tiwari said it was a pity that there was no coordination between different departments.
"If this is the situation, then I would leave," he said. Adding 'I don't want to be called an inauguration Chief Minister."

The Chief Minister's comments created a furore at the function leaving senior bureaucrats red-faced.
