: Afghanistan's ruling Taliban have held up a UN food aid convoy bound for the western city of Herat by demanding an "unacceptable" tax to allow it to proceed, a UN spokesman said in Islamabad on Thursday.
UN World Food Program (WFP) spokesman Francesco Luna said Taliban officials had demanded $ 32 for each of the 475 tonnes of aid bound for Herat. The convoy was due to leave southwestern Pakistan on Thursday.
"(The Taliban) are imposing unacceptable taxes on our food convoy," Luna told a press conference. Bureau Report
