Chandigarh, Jan 03: The 91st Indian Science Congress (ISC) 2004 would be inaugurated today by Union Human Resources Development Minister M M Joshi. About 5,000 scientists from India and abroad will be attending the five day Congress being held in the Punjab University after a gap of 31 years.

President A P J Abdul Kalam is scheduled to deliver the "evening lecture in public forum" on January 05.

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was scheduled to inaugurate the ISC, will not be doing so as his visit was cancelled, official sources said.

The 'Pride of India' exhibition' will also be organised during the Congress besides science programme for school students. Bureau Report
