Ranchi, Oct 23: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha today ruled out any alliance with any party in Chhattisgarh and said it would contest in 45 seats in December 1 elections. The party would contest in 45 seats all alone in the assembly elections in the neighbouring state, JMM supremo Shibu Soren told newsmen here.
He said India is a secular state and people belonging to all religions and castes should be respected and given equal status. "Every time an election comes, emotions are whipped up in the name of religion and caste. This should be stopped in the interest of all round development," he said.
Soren this morning left for Jashpur in Chhattisgarh to address an election meeting there. The names of JMM candidates for Chhattisgarh would be announced after November 10, party sources here said. Commenting on the Arjun Munda government in Jharkhand, Soren said, "Corruption, unemployment and poverty have been growing belying peoples belief that formation of a separate state would herald a new dawn."
Thousands of men and women who struggled for creation of the state were left searching for their own survival while others were enjoying power, Soren said. Bureau Report
