Jamnagar, Apr 11: Claiming that people were in favour of returning NDA to power, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said that the BJP-led government had achieved in its term what Congress failed to do in its 46-year rule. Addressing a well attended public meeting in support of BJP candidate for Jamnagar-3 seat Chandresh Patel, Modi said India had all the resources but was ignored due to poor leadership. But under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's leadership the country made its presence felt in the international arena.
Congress after its 40-year rule is tired and let it take some rest, Modi said.
He said it was generally believed that only Congress can rule the country and someone from Nehru family can become the Prime Minister. "But Lal Bahadur Shastri proved it wrong and the NDA government proved it wrong that there was no alternative to Congress”.
