Chennai, May 21: Tamil Nadu government today issued orders cancelling all punishments and withdrawing all disciplinary cases against government employees and teachers for participating in last year's strike benefiting over 6,000 of them. Chief secretary Laksmi Pranesh issued the government orders in compliance with chief minister Jayalalithaa's announcement on may 18 to this effect withdrawing all punitive actions against employees who participated in the strike July last year benefiting 6,072 of them, including 2,789 secretariat staff, official sources said.
The increments of these employees were cut and their ranks reduced as part of the punishment,
The sources told that firs were filed against nearly 14,000 employees (including 6072 who faced punishments). They will also stand to benefit with the withdrawal of all disciplinary cases against them.
In one stroke, Jayalalithaa, on Tuesday last, cancelled all punishments meted out to state government employees and teachers, in the wake of the rout her party faced in the recent Lok Sabha polls.
