All armed fighters, apart from specially deployed police and soldiers, have been ordered off the streets of Kabul with immediate effect, a Defence Ministry official said Thursday. The order was part of security measures ahead of the inauguration Saturday of Afghanistan's interim government.

“The security commission has approved an order that no armed persons can walk on the streets and that they should go back to barracks,” the spokesman, Doctor Gulbuddin said.
“If they want to walk on the streets they are free to do so, but without their arms,” he added. Bureau Report
