Amid bedlam, an agitated Opposition in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday stonewalled introduction of the controversial anti-terrorism bill by Home Minister L K Advani forcing adjournment of the house till Wednesday.
Tearing and throwing papers, slogan-shouting Opposition members stormed the well of the House protesting government`s move to bring the bill before the House to replace the Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance (POTO) promulgated in October. As the home minister rose to introduce the bill, which has been brought in a diluted form with government bowing to pressure from ruling NDA partners and the Opposition, members from Congress, Samajwadi Party, RJD and Left parties rushed into the well and later staged a sit-in even after the House was adjourned by speaker G M C Balayogi till 1400 hours.
Balayogi immediately convened a meeting of leader of various parties in a bid resolve the impasse. Bureau Report
