New Delhi, May 09: Congress today alleged that Intelligence Bureau had disfavoured appointment of Shamit Mukherjee, former Delhi High Court judge arrested in DDA scam case, but it was overruled by Law Minister Arun Jaitley. Congress spokesman Satyavrat Chaturvedi said on a television show that he had "credible information" to state "this fact". "As per the procedure for appointment of judges, vetting by intelligence agencies is required," he said alleging it did not happen in the case of Mukherjee's appointment as Delhi High Court judge. “My information is that Intelligence Bureau did not clear him. It was overruled by Arun Jaitley," Chaturvedi charged, citing his "sources" and asserting that he was saying this "responsibly". Asked about the issue, Jaitley told reporters in an informal interaction that he had nothing to say on the matter more than what he had said in a rejoinder to a Delhi newspaper, which had carried a story on the subject.
