Tirupati, Oct 04: A special investigation team, headed by a senior IPS officer camping at Tirupati, would investigate all aspects related to the blast, which injured Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and four others on October 1, a senior police official said here today.
Besides this, a commission of inquiry, headed by retired DGP of Uttar Pradesh, Prakash Singh, with vast experience in handing extremist activities, would study the security lapses, DGP S R Sukumara said.
Prakash Singh would also recommend steps to strengthen security cover for the chief minister and other VVIPs, sukumara said at a press conference after his maiden visit to the blast site.
Sukumara expressed confidence that the police would be able to curb the activities of PWG, saying "undoubtedly, we are going to curb the outlawed PWG in the days to come." He pointed out that within no time after the blast, police had confirmed that it was the act of the PWG, a fact confirmed by their statement last night, owning responsibility for it.
Asked about holding talks with the PWG, he said that it was for the government to take a decision on this issue.
Sukumara said that the security apparatus at the hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara and other temples in the state would be further upgraded.
The bomb disposal teams were continuing the search for claymore mines on all roads and streets leading to the shrine, with the help of sophisticated devices, he added.
