Imphal, Nov 25: All Manipur Students Union today blamed the Centre and Bihar governments for the violence in Assam, which it said was sparked off by the recent assault on train passengers from North-East, and urged all concerned to restore peace in the region. The "failure" to punish those responsible for the assault on NE train passengers in Bihar had resulted in a series of attacks in Assam in which 56 Biharis have been killed, AMSU information and publicity secretary Khamba Laishram said.
The Centre and Bihar governments are to be blamed for "fuelling communal feeling among the people by encouraging some MPs from Bihar to attack Assam Bhavan in New Delhi," he said and appealed to the concerned state governments to restore peace and harmony.
AMSU also appealed to the Manipur government to make it clear to the Centre and Bihar governments that the Manipuri community was not averse to any other community. It stressed the need to maintain peaceful coexistence among different communities.
