Dehradun, Aug 17: Amidst the raging controversy over Public Accounts Committee being denied a CVC report on defence purchases for Kargil war, senior Congress leader N D Tiwari today said he was made an offer to see the controversial report during his tenure as head of the parliamentary panel but he declined.
"I declined to see the report because I wanted to maintain transparency in parliamentary procedures. I maintained I would study the report only if other members of
the PAC are also allowed to see the document on defence purchases," he told reporters here.
Tiwari, who quit as member of Parliament after becoming Uttaranchal chief minister, said if asked he was ready to make a statement before any parliamentary committee.
The offer was made by the then Lok Sabha speaker G M C Balayogi, he said.
