Noida(UP), Mar 28: Appealing to citizens to work towards attaining a developed country status for India, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today said sectors like education and health were of foremost importance in achieving this goal. "Though my work is related to the internal security of the country, I believe that to achieve full security, India has to look after education and health," Advani said while inaugurating a private hospital here.
Recalling that earlier Indians, including Members of Parliament, had to go abroad for treatment like heart surgeries, Advani said now people from other countries were coming to India for medical care earning the country foreign exchange. Even liver and kidney transplants were now being done in India, he said adding it was the job of private hospitals to show government hospitals, whose reputation is not good, the path towards towards dedicated health care.
"We don't have to any dearth of talent and resources. Only dedication is required," Advani said. Commenting on Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee completing five years in office, he said, "Vajpayeeji is the only non-Congress prime minister to complete five years in office."
