Afghan ambassador Masood Khalili on Wednesday briefed members of the parliamentary standing committee on external affairs on the developments in Kabul, future direction of indo-afghan relations and the important role of India in the economic reconstruction of the war-ravaged country. The Afghan ambassador conveyed the interim administration's gratitude for the unstinted support extended by India to the anti-Taliban alliance.
He said Kabul sought New Delhi's help in a number of areas including reviving health services, education and infrastructure development.
The members posed a range of questions on how soon terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden could be apprehended, Kabul's relations now with Pakistan and the nature of assistance immediately required from India. The meeting, presided over by the committee chairman Krishna Bose, was also attended by Karan Singh, R L Bhatia, L M Singhvi and T N Chaturvedi.
